8:00 AM – 12:00 PM DC Central Kitchen Volunteer Opportunity

D.C. Kitchen is also a Catalyst organization that combats hunger and poverty through job training and job creation. Their mission is to use food as a tool to strengthen bodies, empower minds, and build communities. We have arranged a volunteer shift at D.C. Kitchen from 9am-12pm on Thursday, February 6th so you can be a part of their work and learn how food can be used to change individual lives while addressing systemic failures and the deeper problem of hunger – poverty. Please arrive promptly to CKI at 8:00 AM for transportation.

8:30 AM – 11:30 AM HomeStretch Volunteer Opportunity

The morning of Thursday, February 6th, take a trip to the offices of Homestretch, a Catalyst organization that is designed to address the root causes of homelessness for each family and reverse it. Listen to a presentation from their leadership about strategy and mission, talk with someone whose life was changed due to Homestretch, and take a tour of the facilities which include a nursery, clinic, and classrooms. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the organizations we support through our Catalyst program, and it can open your eyes to different ways people are tackling homelessness on a community level. Please arrive promptly at 8:30 AM for transportation.
