Professor Stephen F. Smith teaches criminal law and procedure at the University of Notre Dame. He has testified before Congress on criminal law reform and published articles in a variety of respected journals, including the Virginia Law Review, the American Criminal Law Review, and the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology. Prior to joining the Notre Dame faculty in 2009, he taught at the University of Virginia School of Law and clerked for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Judge David B. Sentelle of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
